TapGo is an accessibility-first grocery shopping app designed to help older adults shop independently with confidence. The project focuses on reducing digital barriers through simplified navigation, larger touch targets, customizable accessibility settings, and intuitive interactions. By prioritizing usability over complexity, TapGo creates a shopping experience that is clear, comfortable, and inclusive for users with varying levels of digital literacy.

the PROBLEM
Environmental data is often presented through static charts and dashboards that communicate facts but fail to create emotional understanding. While the information is accurate, it is difficult for everyday users to interpret, limiting awareness and engagement with climate issues.

the challenge
Many grocery apps prioritize features over accessibility, making everyday shopping difficult for older adults. Small touch targets, crowded interfaces, and complex navigation often create frustration and reduce user confidence. The challenge was to design an experience that remains powerful while being simple, readable, and easy to navigate for users with diverse accessibility needs.
The final design improves accessibility through adjustable text sizes, high-contrast themes, simplified navigation, and task-focused user flows. Features such as guided onboarding, personalized accessibility settings, and an emergency assistance function increase usability while promoting independence, confidence, and a more inclusive digital shopping experience.

LEARNINGS
TapGo demonstrates how thoughtful accessibility design can empower older adults to navigate digital grocery shopping with greater ease and independence. By combining inclusive UX principles with clear visual hierarchy and customizable interactions, the project delivers a scalable solution that promotes confidence, reduces cognitive load, and makes everyday shopping more accessible for everyone.
